FAIRFAX COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS STUDENTS EXCEL AT INTERNATIONAL DECA COMPETITION - US Fed News Service, Including US State News

Fairfax County Public Schools issued the following news release:

Fifty-three students from Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) excelled at the International DECA Career Development Conference held in Orlando this past weekend. Of the Fairfax County public schools participating, Marshall High School had the largest number of students-15-reaching the finalist or top 10 level.

FCPS students who won the highest honors included Mason Andress, Kyle Cooper, and Mike Geib of Fairfax High School, who placed second in the Community Service Project event, and South County Secondary School students Rebecca Nash and Khushbu Patel, who placed second in the E-Commerce Business Plan event.

Top 10 finishers included:

* Leanne Williams of Chantilly Academy, Hotel and Lodging Series event.

* Bridgett Feehan of Fairfax High School, Fashion Merchandising Promotion Plan event.

* Timothy Convy of Madison High School, Technical Sales event.

* Adam Fisher and Greg Smagin of Marshall High School, Business Law and Ethics Team Decision Making.

* Cassie Self, Kathy Tucker, and Dana Whitman of Marshall High School, International Business Plan event.

* Blair Monroe, Caitlin Quinn, and Amanda Spoden of Marshall High School, Retail Marketing Research event.

* David Meyer and Corey Weaver of Oakton High School, Travel and Tourism Marketing Management Team event.

* Taylor Bucher and Shannon Murillo of Robinson Secondary School, E-Commerce Business Plan event.

* Jessica Burbach, Shannon Mueller, and Aaron Ruiz of Robinson Secondary School, International Business Plan event.

* Fay Hennessy and Kate Julian of South County Secondary School, Community Service project.

* Rebekah Flis and Laura Galinis of Woodson High School, Public Relations project.

More than 15,000 DECA members from the United States, Canada, Germany, Guam, and Puerto Rico attended the conference. DECA is an international association of high school and college students studying marketing, management, and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, and marketing sales and service.
