FLINT HILL: Girls' tennis player Taylor Swart was named theschool's athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 2. Swart, ajunior who plays No. 4 singles, won a tiebreaker against St.Andrew's on Friday as darkness descended and her team had alreadylost. Each point in the last several games averaged more than 15shots and some more than 30, with Swart saving two match points.
LAKE BRADDOCK: Senior forward Allison Wells scored two goals in a4-2 senior night girls' soccer win over visiting Annandale on Oct.5. Senior defender Jac Foster-Whittig had an assist.
LANGLEY: Megan Shifflett had 12 aces and 22 assists -- bothteam highs -- and Lisa Scott had a team-high 12 kills to lead theSaxons to a three-game volleyball victory over South Lakes lastweek. The win extended Langley's record to 15-0.
W.T. WOODSON: Senior captain Jenna Palaschak had a team-high 10kills and 13 assists and junior Maddie Breeland contributed 8 kills,4 aces and 28 digs to lead the Cavaliers (8-1) to a 3-0 volleyballwin over host Marshall on Oct. 4. The win extended the Cavaliers'winning streak to eight since a Sept. 7 loss to Herndon.
